Starts with Perimenopause
When you reach your early to mid forties, your hormonal system isn't as regular as it used to be. Perimenopause ("peri" means "time before") is a time when you can begin to learn all you can about your changing body and mind.
- Irregular periods
- Difficulty getting pregnant
- Your first hot flashes, as your hormonal system pumps harder in an attempt to keep stimulating the dwindling supply of eggs in your ovaries
- Your first hot flashes, as your hormonal system pumps harder in an attempt to keep stimulating the dwindling supply of eggs in your ovaries Emotional symptoms like moodiness or anxiety
- A drop in energy and an increase in tiredness
Officially in Menopause h
Menopause occurs because of the winding down of the female cycle, as the hormonal system moves from its reproductive function to "maintenance" for the rest of your life.
Menopause occurs when there are very few eggs left to be fertilized, and the output of estrogen and progesterone is so small that the eggs are not stimulated to ovulate. For most women, this happens in their early 50s.
- Headaches
- Joint and muscle aches and pains.
- Changes in libido (sex drive).
- Weight gain
Finally, Post-Menopuase
When you have not had a period for 12 consecutive months, you have gone through menopause.
After menopause, you no longer need to be concerned about birth control or having monthly periods. This is a milestone for every menopausal woman, and with all its inconvenience, it definitely has its plus sides. It means you have passed through an important transition and are now ready to meet the challenges of the next half of your life hopefully with more self-awareness and self-confidence than you had when you were younger!

You've Earned This
Phenology and Estroven are forming an alliance to advance these demands, while creating tools for everyone to start celebrating the prime of their life.
We Deserve
to put ourselves first. For too long, menopause has meant becoming invisible to the world and suffering in silence. No more. We deserve community, we deserve to be valued and validated, we deserve to meet each new phase of our lives with celebration.
We Declare
our appreciation for our bodies. We are no longer interested in battling ourselves, shrinking our shapes, or framing our outlines for the desires and aesthetics of others. We declare our freedom to experience sexuality on our own terms, we declare our right to pleasure and joy, we declare our intention to honor ourselves and our communities with radical self-love.
We Demand
solutions to symptoms and stigma. We demand fact-based data to support our needs, we demand better research for menopause treatment. We demand rigorous scientific inquiry. We demand our lives and experiences be taken seriously, we demand an end to the expectation that we suffer alone and silently. We demand the right to live to our greatest potential.
